Conformity Assessment

Conformity assessment activity is a verification activity that shows whether the specified conditions for a product, process, system, person or organization are fulfilled.

Due to the ever-increasing technical requirements with the technological development of the industry and business world, being able to demonstrate that what is supplied actually meets the stated or claimed requirements reveals the importance of the conformity assessment activity.

Conformity assessment can be applied to a product (including a service for these purposes), a process, a system, an organization or individuals and includes activities such as testing, inspection and certification. The main purpose of a conformity assessment procedure is to demonstrate the conformity of products placed on the market with the requirements set out in the relevant technical regulation provisions. A product is subject to a conformity assessment process during the design and production phase and is the responsibility of the manufacturer.

Conformity assessment should not be confused with market surveillance and inspection carried out by Market Surveillance and Control (MSC) organisations. Conformity assessment is the activity carried out before the product is placed on the market.
